Wrap-Up

2017 Wrap-up : FAVOURITE BOOKS

I’ve decided to call this post that way and not “best books of 2017” or something because I couldn’t read all the books I wanted to and I know there are many books that I would have included here if I had had time/money to read them. So I’m only talking here about the books I read this year, and which were my favourites 🙂
Some could appear in several categories and sometimes it is hard to dissociate SF and Fantasy so please don’t yell at me if I put a book in one category and you feel it should be in another haha!

I just COULDN’T decide only 10 so here are a few Top 5 in no particular order! ❤

THE VERY BESTS:

Failure to Communicate (Xandri Corelel #1), by Kaia Sønderby

The Fifth Season (The Broken Earth, #1), by N.K. Jemisin

TOP 5 CUTE:

I really needed some fluff and cuteness this year, especially seeing how hard 2017 has been at times. So here are my favourite cute books I read this year!

Not Your Sidekick (Sidekick Squad, #1), by C.B. Lee (goodreads) (review)

Queens of Geek, by Jen Wilde (goodreads) (review)

The Little Queen, by Meia Geddes (goodreads) (review)

Knit One, Girl Two, by Shira Glassman (goodreads)

The Tea Dragon Society, by Katie O’Neill (goodreads) (review)

TOP 5 FEELS:

Okay so on a variation of the “cute” theme, here are books that made me have feel all the feelings!

On the Edge of Gone, by Corinne Duyvis (goodreads) (review)

Radio Silence, by Alice Oseman (goodreads)

The Lady Astronaut of Mars, by Mary Robinette Kowal (goodreads) (read here)

The Traitor’s Tunnel (A Trident Chronicles Novella), by C.M. Spivey (goodreads) (review)

TOP 5 SF:

I know some of these could be fantasy also but anyway, I love them!

Killing Gravity (The Voidwitch Saga, #1), by Corey J. White (goodreads) (review)

All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1), by Martha Wells (goodreads) (review)

It Devours! (Welcome to Night Vale #2), by Joseph Fink (goodreads)

Failure to Communicate (Xandri Corelel #1), by Kaia Sønderby (goodreads) (review)

The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories, by Ken Liu (goodreads) (review)

TOP FANTASY:

I read more fantasy books than SF this year so it was even harder to make choices! Here are the ones that I’m 100% I will re-read several times in my life.

Winter Tide (The Innsmouth Legacy, #1), by Ruthanna Emrys (goodreads) (review)

Assassin’s Fate (The Fitz and the Fool, #3), by Robin Hobb (goodreads) (review)

The Ruin of Angels (Craft Sequence, #6), by Max Gladstone (goodreads) (review)

The Fifth Season (The Broken Earth, #1), by N.K. Jemisin (goodreads) (review)

The Lamb Will Slaughter the Lion (Danielle Cain #1), by Margaret Killjoy (goodreads) (review)

TOP 5 Y.A.:

Young Adult novels are a range of books I don’t read often but since I read so many great ones this year, here are my favourites!

The Epic Crush of Genie Lo, by F.C. Yee (goodreads) (review)

HONORABLE MENTION:

Because CHOOSING IS HARD and I don’t want to leave some behind 😥 Here are some other amazing books I read this year.

Lab Girl by Hope Jahren (goodreads)

A Dragon of a Different Color (Heartstrikers, #4), by Rachel Aaron (goodreads)

  1. I am definitely intrigued by Failure to Communicate now! And The Fifth Season is AMAZING, the whole trilogy is a masterpiece really but the first book is probably my favorite, I read it twice already and it is a book I will definitely go back to again and again in the future! 🙂

    1. It is so good!!! I think anyone who love Star Trek and is interested on reading books by “unusual” voices would love this. Plus, a lot of cool tech and aliens and diplomacy!!
Same the first book in the Broken Earth trilogy remains my favourite, but I love the direction the second and third books took!
      Definitely worth some rereads!

  2. Eeep, so many good books! I can’t wait to read Beneath the Sugar Sky and the City of Spires series. I hope I love them as much as you do! And I want to reread both Failure to Communicate and Radio Silence next year. 😍

    1. I truly hope you’ll love them too!
Same, as soon as it is possible to order a physical copy of Failure to Communicate I will get one and reread! Hopefully before the second book gets published!
I’m so excited for Alice Oseman next book too!
