As if my TBR wasn’t gigantic already [2]

Recently I’ve added lots of books on my “want-to-read” list on goodreads and I want to share my excitement! They might not be the books I’m MOST excited about, but they are those I most recently learned about and I’d like to spead the word. Some are out already, others not for a few months, or even a year (sorry)!

Crossroads of Canopy (Titan’s Forest #1), by Thoraiya Dyer (Goodreads)

The expected publication for this one is January 31st 2017, from Tor Books! I’m really intrigued by the cover and the description. An heroine’s journey, giant forest, gods and godesses, reincarnation, magic… It has everything to catch my interest!

Here is a post on the tor.com website, talking about its beautiful cover, and where I discovered it is made by one of my favourite cover artist : Marc Simonetti !

The Power, by Naomi Alderman (Goodreads)

This is a 2016 release from October but I heard there was going to be a TV adaptation (source : U.K. Banner Sister Pictures Options Feminist Sci-Fi Novel ‘The Power’ for TV) so another reason to read it! It sounds really REALLY awesome and like an important read (plus Margaret Atwood wrote the blurb !)

In The Power the world is a recognisable place: there’s a rich Nigerian kid who larks around the family pool; a foster girl whose religious parents hide their true nature; a local American politician; a tough London girl from a tricky family. But something vital has changed, causing their lives to converge with devastating effect. Teenage girls now have immense physical power – they can cause agonising pain and even death. And, with this small twist of nature, the world changes utterly.

Want, by Cindy Pon (Goodreads)

The expected publication here is June 13th 2017, by Simon Pulse!
I’m super excited for this one, the full description and the cover made me add it instantly to my list!

From critically acclaimed author Cindy Pon comes an edge-of-your-seat sci-fi thriller, set in a near-future Taipei plagued by pollution, about a group of teens who risk everything to save their city.

Lab Girl: A story of Trees, Science and Love, by Hope Jahren (Goodreads)

If I understood correctly that one is a memoir. It seems to be about a geobiologist, or a botanist, who also battles with mental illness and being a woman in this field. I heard many great things about it on twitter and it seems like something that I could like!

Acclaimed scientist Hope Jahren has built three laboratories in which she’s studied trees, flowers, seeds, and soil. Her first book is a revelatory treatise on plant life—but it is also so much more.

The Ninth Rain (The Winnowing Flame Trilogy #1), by Jen Williams (Goodreads)

Another one that is not out yet, expected on February 23rd 2017, by Headline! I think before reading it I’ll first read The Copper Cat trilogy that Jen Williams already published (starting with Copper Promise) but it doesn’t mean I’m not SUPER excited about this one, mostly because the cover is gorgeous! I don’t really know what to expect from it, there doesn’t seem to be any reviews up at the moment, but I’ll keep an eye out for them!

Barbary Station (Barbary Station #1), by R.E. Stearns (Goodreads)

Why do I do this to myself?? This one will only be out in A YEAR! (Expected publication: December 5th 2017, by Saga Press)
But it sounds TERRIFIC! Below, the tweet that made me want to read it :

Adda and Iridian are newly minted engineers, but aren’t able to find any work in a solar system ruined by economic collapse after an interplanetary war. Desperate for employment, they hijack a colony ship and plan to join a famed pirate crew living in luxury at Barbary Station, an abandoned shipbreaking station in deep space.

Anything catches your interest, or you’ve already read one of them? Do tell me! 🙂
